The RSN Studio area of expertise is with projects that require any kind of stitching, whether in repair, restoration or conservation techniques. Some cleaning is undertaken in-house, and we work with a team of off-site independent specialists, and where questions of conservation arise we consult with the appropriate specialists.
The Studio has a wide experience of working on new commissions, as well as historical embroidered textiles for civil, military and religious regalia, vestments and furnishings, soft furnishings for interiors, household linens, hangings, samplers and needlepoint furnishings. If you wish to have a family heirloom conserved and archived we will happily discuss your project with you.
We can clean, support holes and stitching on a wide variety of historic textiles, for example, mount samplers for framing; line hangings and tapestries for hanging; net banners and flags; repair household linens; clean and repair, and add dates and monograms to christening robes and wedding veils so that they can be used again for future generations. We can transfer old embroideries onto new ground fabrics and mount them as panels, and we specialise in transferring ecclesiastical embroidery on vestments, altar frontals and church banners, to give them a new lease of life.
